Honestly, our protagonist shouldn't even give a gift. The bride disrespected her marriage, why should she commemorate hers?

It's actually totally fair to have a wedding budget and maximum number of guests, but if you're going to penny-pinch like that, you have to be prepared for people to decline without throwing a tantrum about it.

Bride and groom disparage friend's 3-year marriage by failing to invite her husband to the wedding, couple guilt-trips her when she declines: "Expecting a guest to travel to a destination wedding without a partner is outrageous."
I am in the middle of planning my wedding, and so far, it's been just as daunting as I thought it would be – even with the help of a wedding planner, my married friends, and all of my aunties. In less than a month, I am sending out wedding invitations, and making a guest list has been a total headache. Every time I name a family member to add to the list, my mother doubles the number to include their partner. I haven't seen my family in a while, and it turns out a lot of them are married or in long-term relationships now. However, everyone has to draw the line somewhere, so I won't be inviting my cousin's on-and-off again situationship that I've never met.
In our story today, a bride and groom draw their own line for their wedding guests, but they end up splitting married couples in the process. Our protagonist, offended that her husband was not invited, puts her friendship with the bride on the line by declining the wedding invitation. Scroll down below to read the bride's guilt-tripping reaction.
